Although ABC promised fans a fifth season, it was announced on May 21, 1997 on America Online that the show had been cancelled, and no new episodes would be made.

The next actor to don the red cape in the movie which is simply titled "Superman: Man of Steel" which is expected to be release date of June 14, 2013. The movie is directed by Zack Snyder however at this current time there is still no word on the storyline to the movie.
